Ariza Verbally Agrees to Deal with Rockets

Trevor Ariza, who was an integral piece of the Lakers' recent championship triumph, has reportedly verbally agreed to a deal with the Houston Rockets. Many were surprised when word came out Wednesday night that the Lakers would not be willing to exceed the mid-level exception to retain Ariza.

Ariza averaged 8.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Lakers during the regular season, and upped his points per game average to 11.3 during the Lakers playoff run.

ESPN is reporting that Ariza will receive the Rockets' full mid-level exception, which is projected to be $5.8 million for the coming season. The deal would be five years, $33.5 million.
