Germany Goalkeeper Robert Enke Dies After Being Hit by Train

Terrible and shocking news.

From The Guardian:

The Hannover and Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke has died after being hit by a train, according to police in Germany, who say they believe he may have committed suicide.

The 32-year-old's two-year-old daughter died of a heart ailment in 2006, and his club president, Martin Kind, has today said that the goalkeeper had been "unstable" recently.

There is never a good reason to commit suicide but losing a child at such a young age is a horrible thing to happen to someone.

I remember watching him play during his three years with Benfica. Quality keeper.

My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace with his first child.

absolutely brutal. depression seems to be a problem with german soccer players (and an unspoken issue with others). My heart goes out to his family.
