  • Julian De Guzman NOT coming to TFC

There have been rumblings recently about the possibility of Julian De Guzman coming to Toronto FC as the clubs DP. De Guzman is out of contract at Deportivo La Coruna at seasons end, and Mo Johnston has been vocal about his respect for the player. However TFC fans, I'm afraid it isn't going to happen any time soon. I contacted Julian through his representatives this morning, and the midfielder had this to say about a move to TFC: "I was approached but that's something I'll consider...

  • Depor owes De Guzman, Rivas Jr linked with TFC, The story of Steve Savidan

Depor Owes De Guzman Cash According to Peter Mallett of globesports.com , Julian De Guzman is owed $1.2M by his club Deportivo La Coruna. The Canadian international says it's something he'd like to get sorted before contract extension talks begin. "As for my future, I met with my lawyer and agent because Deportivo owe me bonuses for over three years which now total up to 800,000 euros," De Guzman said on Tuesday. "Deportivo would like to talk about extending my contract but...

  • De Guzman, Sigi v Busch, Stocking Stuffer

Spurs interested in De Guzman? This may be old news to some of you, but I've been off for a couple of days so give me a break. Apparently someone at Spurs has finally gotten some sense and listened to my advice, because they've allegedly expressed interest in singing Canada's very own Julian De Guzman . Sky Sports says Tottenham have been keeping an eye on De God (surely on my advice) over the past couple of weeks. The Canadian International's contract expires with Deportivo La Coruna...

  • Mitchell Fires Back/De Guzman Out/L'Impact Win Again

Mitchell Responds to Brennan Criticism Credit to our friend Neil Davidson from the Canadian Press for reporting on this story. I've noticed a few of the newspapers I've been surfing have edited the story's length, so be sure to read the full piece at CP's website because there's some juicy tidbits that didn't make the cut. Example: "Mitchell was more definitive Wednesday when asked if he would ever summon [Jim] Brennan again. 'No,' he said. Mitchell said Brennan...

  • Brennan v CSA, De Guzman v De Guzman

Brennan Calls Out the CSA Jim Brennan has launched a scathing attack on the Canadian Soccer Association and national team coach Dale Mitchell. It seems Jimmy B is a little peeved that he didn't get a phone call to tell him he wasn't part of the upcoming squad to face Honduras and Mexico. John F. Molinaro has the scoop at CBC.ca . Here's a couple of highlights from the Toronto captain's comments to the press yesterday: "I spoke to officials here at Toronto FC, my family and friends...

  • Mexico 2 - Canada 1

Nothing unexpected here. It’s important to look at this game without the previous two results clouding our judgment. I wasn’t expecting to get any points out of this fixture when the groups were announced, so there was none of the usual gut-wrenching heartbreak I usually go through during and after a Canada loss. The only thing a team of Canada’s ilk - and most teams in CONCACAF for that matter – can do in Mexico is bunker down, hold their shape, attempt to frustrate and hope...
