Today I enjoyed watching the 2nd round replay between Blyth Spartans and Bournemouth. Non-league Blyth, full of players who had been to work earlier in the day, took on the full-time professionals for the chance to meet Premier League side Blackburn Rovers in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. I had a lot of interest in this game as I remember making the trip to the North East to watch a game at Blyth as a young reporter in England some 9 years ago. This week Mo Johnston's pursuit of new signings for Toronto FC took him to the Caribbean to pursue 21-year-old Trinidadian Keon Daniel. MLS rumors had a blog last week that a number of MLS teams are looking at the midfielder and I can confirm that Toronto FC are one of those teams and Mo Johnston this week travelled to speak to the man himself. Daniel is a regular for the Trinidad and Tobago national team and scored a goal for them as recently as last month in their 3-0 World Cup qualifying game...

Toronto FC fans want a designated player now. John Carver wants a designated player now and its looking more and more likely that this is going to happen. I am hearing today that people around Toronto FC have been talking about a possible swoop for Benfica's Nuno Gomes and some staff members have gone as far as to cut out his head and place it on top of a Toronto FC jersey.
