  • The Tuesday Table

Happy Tuesday footy folks, Kristian Jack back with you for this symbol of footballing excellence and that's the institution, for three weeks now anyway, known as The Tuesday Table. Remember, the number in brackets is their position from last week: 1. Liverpool (1) - I said last week that the only reason they are top is the poor play of their rivals but that is not true this week. They were very poor in the first half at Arsenal but I continue to see this team grow up in front of our very own...

  • Unforgiving Premier League showing no loyalty to managers

Fifteen months ago today Chelsea practiced at their Stamford Bridge home preparing for a Tuesday night Champions League match against Rosenborg. They had just come off a lively but goalless encounter at home to Blackburn two days earlier. Their manager told the media that his team were still in good form and on the surface things looked good on the blue side of London. The next day they went to struggle to a 1-1 draw against the team from Norway and two days later Jose Mourinho walked out of his...

  • Big Sam takes over at Ewood Park

Sam Allardyce , pictured above during his time at Newcastle United, has been named as the replacement for Paul Ince at Blackburn. As expected, Rovers went with an experienced candidate who will know how to scrape points out to avoid relegation. And he's going to be provided with a soft-serve tie for his first match in charge to pick up three when Blackburn is at home to Stoke this Saturday. If he wins, I'll be mildly impressed. But if he gets an honest 90 minute effort out of want-away sulker...

  • Ince Sacked By Blackburn, Morning Links

Ince-anity! Well not really, but I just wanted to execute that little bit of pun-manship. You knew it was only a matter of time before Blackburn dumped Paul Ince , but I thought they'd at least give the Guv'ner the chance to beat Stoke at home this weekend before they made the chop . But no. I guess even if he did pull out three points in that fixture he'd still be a dead-man walking anyway. Might as well just pull the plug early. I used to be of the opinion that sacking a manager after...

  • The Tuesday Table

Happy Tuesday footy folks, If you are like me and you are already overlooking this week's irrelevant Champions League games then this is the blog for you. Each week I will dissect the world's greatest league and provide you with my very own rankings. Sure, the table never lies and this year is the closest season in recent memory and parity reigns supreme - blah, blah, blah. Following yesterday's podcast in which we argued the plight of West Brom I have been inspired to start a new segment...

  • The Footy Show open-thread

Ahead of Sunday's show (10:30am et) let us know your thoughts on today's action and storylines. Inparticular: - Roy Keane leaves Sunderland, whose next at The Stadium of Plight? - Cristiano Ronaldo walks off field injured, not sure how serious it is, but it had better be for him to do that, and leave his teammates in the lurch! - Paul Ince on the bubble, as Rovers lose to Liverpool, should he be fired? - Chelsea win 11th straight road match! Great record, but are there problems with this...

Happy Monday footy folks, Kristian Jack back with you to give you 13 of the many thoughts that popped in my head over the weekend. 1. We truly continue to blessed with great games live on The Score Television Network. Sunday's had it all - sendings off, penalties missed and scored, injuries oh and yet another Tottenham loss. Juande Ramos is the luckiest man in football right now. 2. Lets get one thing straight. One of those teams who played in that game on Sunday is going down. I know its only...

  • The Sharman 5 (Sept 26/08)

Will St. James' be roaring, or whimpering? Joe Kinnear as interim gaffer is hardly going to appease the Geordie faithful, but will his comments? Suggesting that Newcastle will be sold soon, and Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer returning to the fold, may be fact, or it may be fiction. However I wonder how the fans will view the comments, or will they see through them as Mike Ashley's attempt to fill the house. After all, this weeks approx 20,000 turnout for the Carling Cup loss to Spurs was embarressing...

  • The Sharman 5 (Sept 19/08) Revisited

For those long time Footy Show viewers and blog readers, you must be appreciating the fact that The Score curse seems to have lifted. We've had a couple of damn good matches since we moved into our new digs. Sunday's Chelsea vs Manchester Utd contest delivered big time, really good game! Here's a look at The Sharman 5 from Friday, and my comments in retrospect: Mike Riley: the most important figure at Stamford Bridge Yes, it will be Riley taking charge of what is arguably Englands most...

It's going to be a goliath weekend here at The Score. Not only do we have the Chelsea vs Manchester Utd tilt on Sunday morning, but on Saturday night we have our studio launch street party. If you're in town, come on down and say hi, maybe join us for a beer or two in the beer tent? Hmmmm? Maybe? Also make sure you keep giving us your thoughts on the weekend matches inparticular the Live beauty on Sunday. Joe will once again be hosting a live-web chat. In studio KJ and I are joined by former...
