Driving in to work today, I noticed Bills Toronto Series ads hanging from street posts. We're 25 days away from the first regular-season NFL game ever played in Toronto.
Coincidentally, I received a press release today from the Bills with the schedule of events slated for Dec. 7.
Game time is 4:05 p.m. ET, but, in spite of preseason dread at the thought of having a team that went 1-15 last year taking on the Bills in the season's final month, we could have a game with some importance on our hands. So, could NBC decide to flex the game to primetime? New England and Seattle are currently set to play that Sunday night. Other good games that day: Eagles-Giants and Cowboys-Steelers.
We'll have to wait until Monday, Nov. 24 to find out. In the meantime, here's a look at what's on tap for the "event" that will be Miami-Buffalo at Rogers Centre:
OFSAA Bills Toronto Series Football Bowls -- Dec. 3, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. (Rogers Centre)
"Dolphin legend Dan Marino and Bills legend Jim Kelly will appear at Ontario’s regional high school football finals, including the Western Bowl, Northern Bowl, National Capital Bowl, Golden Horseshoe Bowl and Metro Toronto Bowl"
Budweiser Bills Tailgate Party -- Dec. 7, 11:00 a.m. - 4:05 p.m. (Blue Jays Way & Front)
"Thousands of football fans will have access to this pre-game party, complete with all the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional tailgate, Toronto style. Highlights include game ticket giveaways, the Bud Girls, the Buffalo Jills, Bills ‘Shout’ song originator Otis Day and the Knights (R&B), the Flutie Brothers Band (Rock), tailgate food, interactive games and cold Budweiser"
Also, according to the Bills, members of the Canadian armed forces will rappel from the Rogers Centre roof with the game ball, and the Syracuse University marching band will perform at halftime.
Good stuff.
