Heatley Refuses to Waive No Movement Clause

By refusing to waive his no movement clause and declining a trade to Edmonton by midnight, Dany Heatley, whether he intended to or not, stuck it to the Ottawa Senators Wednesday night. The Sens will now be on the hook for a $4 million signing bonus to be paid to Heatley, whether they end up trading him or not.

After Heatley nixed a deal to Edmonton on Tuesday night that would have sent Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid to Ottawa, the Oilers attempted to woo Heatley on Wednesday night, but it clearly wasn't enough.

It appears as though the Dany Heatley vs. Ottawa Senators saga may be just beginning.

If Dany Heatley  wanted to come to Edmonton he wouldn't have had to sleep on it for a night.Leave the soap operas to the professionals in the states on tv.Quit playing with everyones minds and leaving people hanging.Get your prorities straight as well.

Why could Murray only get a half decent deal from Edmonton?  Maybe because Heatley''s a coach killer?  Maybe because Heatley can't be trusted to respect a contract? For God's sake even Sather wouldn't bite.  I'm embarassed that I spent money putthing this loser's name on my Sens jerseys.  Rot in the minors.

I am surprised that teams have not included clauses in contracts that state "if you publicly seek a trade or holdout any non movement clauses are invalid"

Pompey_Canuck, that's actually a pretty good idea. Something I'd be doing if I was a GM in the NHL in this day and age.

And just one thing to say regarding Mr. Heatley, I believe you've just become public enemy #1 to a large portion of the hockey community. Sure you're a very talented player, but the way you've handled this situation is not classy, not classy at all.

If Heatley really wanted out of Ottawa, he would've taken the Edmonton deal just like that, and i find it surprising he wouldn't want to go out there, doesn't his family live there didn't he grow up there??? Heatley i think whole intentions was to play with the Sens ownership and front office, and how Bryan Murray got that deal from Edmonton for Heatley still amazes me especially for such a crybaby, it would help the Sens in more ways than one
