No End In Sight To Heatley Situation

It doesn't appear Dany Heatley will be traded any time soon. According to an Ottawa Sun report, a deal with the Edmonton Oilers is dead.

"It's different now," Senators GM Bryan Murray told the paper. "I don't know whether we will continue or not. During the day I will talk to Steve Tambellini again. Very definitely it's not the same deal it was yesterday."

On Wednesday night Heatley refused a deal that would send him to the Oilers for Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Ladislav Smid. The rejection left the Senators owing a $4-million bonus to Heatley.

Murray doesn't have permission to speak to Heatley again until the weekend the article said.

"trade me, trade me, I killed my friend while driving like mad man and its too tough playing hockey for a living and making millions in Atlanta instead of doing time in jail!"

"trade me, trade me, i don't like my coach and we aren't winning anymore...oh, but only trade me where I want to go...and pay me my 4 million dollar bonus."

If for once, people would just treat him like the selfish twit that he is, maybe he would wake up and realize how lucky he is.

I'd love to see this guy get paid the rest of his money, and then be shunned out of hockey. It's unlikely, but it doesn't mean I can't dream...

high scoring players are almost always prima donnas. It comes with the territory. This is just another example of mismanagement by the Sens. Heatley wants to go to a good team, probably prefers the southern us (with taxes and weather, who wouldnt). Sens couldve moved him to SJ or LA at the draft no doubt but wanted more. Fair enough for them but a 50 goal scorer always holds the best cards and if Murray doesn't know that then he is in the wrong job.

F#@K HIM     ottawa  management  keep him and sit his overpaid ass right beside the back-up goalie and give him the job of opening and closing the door for the players that want to play (ANYWHERE) i'm not a sens fan by any means but there are so many players out there that never got or ever will get the chance to play in the NHL and this jackass pulls this shit. yep yep piss on him

50 goas scorers may often be prima donnas but this goes beyond that.  Ovechkin has a big ego, but you get the impression he would live and die for his team and his team mates.  Heatley just kills his (literally and figuratively).

nah,you guys are just being typical fans. Heatley scored 180 goals in 4 seasons for the Sens. Did well in the playoffs too. Some of his best years he gave to Ottawa and then he asks out when it becomes clear that they are rebuilding. Its a tough situation but the hate factor from Ottawa fans is kind of pathetic and self serving.

Heatley wants out because his new coach wants him to be more defensively responsible.  Something which would make the team in general better and more competitive but take away from his ability to score 50 goals.  Heatley is about Heatley.

Heatly is a moron first he cries and wants to be traded for what ever reason. Then he has the chance to be traded and declines. He cant have it booth ways. If it were me i would keep him and put him on the 4th line for 5 mins a game. F#@kin cry baby....

It is unfortunate that Hockey players much like Dany Heatley has yet to recognize how good he has it.  Clearly he is not a doctor that saves life or has any meaningful occupation that makes a valued difference in our society.  He is a hockey player who plays marginally well and is clearly over paid.  On top of this, he is spoiled; possibly from adoring fans who lust for the game and a management team, who clearly mismanages their finances due and partly because of no individual accountability.

Until the likes of Dany Heatley is forced to make an honest dolar through hard work and dedication, similar behaviors will remain prominent in the NHL.

The blame can't just fall on Dany, the precedent was set long ago with the likes of Lindros, Pronger and others.  Until the managers take charge and stop giving in to these kind of players; they only have themselves to blame.

My view, I would not trade Heatley unless it is gainfully productive to the organization.  Heatley would be encourage to fulfil his contract and if he continue to demand a trade, it wouldn't be on his terms but on the Teams' terms and trade talks would only convene when he lifts all provisions of the binding contract that suits the organization.  I would then bench him if his play was not to my liking and suspend him without pay, pending his continued performances.

Players are paid too much and they lack any consideration for their fans, their teams, the organization or hockey for that matter.

Bettman has to go and we need to bring back  the kind of hockey that can be valued for the game.

oilerkid09 is right, the oilers should look to get someone else and forget about heatly. there is no use having that kind of a guy in your orginization.the oilers would be better off by doing this.

When are sideliners and fanboys gonna realize that the man who puts his body on the line to make a living doesn't have to play the game based on your perception of how "good he has it". Small window of opportunity in order to maximize the return is the first thing these guys have to consider. How many spears and slashes do you take at work? How many activities are you contractually banned from participating in? How many millions of dollars earned through your sweat and blood go to agents, marketers, charity and taxes? Heatley gave what he could to Ottawa,Murray couldv'e been classy and acquiesed to the wishes of a good solider (no doubt Heatley has wanted out for sometime,we are only hearing about it at the tailend). Instead he tries to hold him hostage to a bad situation that will impact his ability to earn and spins the story to make the guy look like a jerkwad.

I don't buy it,too much evidence of managerial incompetence in Ottawa. I think Heatley is getting the raw deal here.

treat him like lindros if he does not want to play suspend him for the rest of the season and sit his ass and then he would owe them another season
