The morning after the night before – Argos/Ti-Cats

Some notes and observations I jotted down last night while watching the season opener:

Jamal Robertson had a nice opening to his season. He ended with 14 carries and 124 yards (his 2008 single game highs: 13 carries, 118 yards).

Lin-J Shell picks off a Quinton Porter pass in the end zone late in the 2nd quarter killing Hamilton’s momentum. I can’t help but think that if that pass is thrown to the corner Hamilton scores a major.

It’s a good thing Porter has some mobility, he seemed to be under pressure on almost every drop back. If it wasn’t for his scrambling you can bet the Argos would have had more than 6 sacks. This may be a product of the new faces on the O-line still coming together.

That hit by Will Poole made me wince

Prechae Rodriguez made a heckuva catch in double coverage to score a TD late in the game.

Toronto’s defence held the Ti-Cats to 118 rush yards on 21 carries (5.6 yard average) - last season Hamilton averaged 7.5 yards per carry in their 3 games against the Argos.

I know it’s a rivalry game, but I can’t imagine either coach was impressed with the number of major fouls. I’ve got 11 tallied between the two teams.
