Obligatory Sports Babe

Seeing as the Broncos put in such an inspiring performance last night in New England, I figured it was only right to honour them but making one of their cheerleaders our obligatory sports babe. Good enough, eh?

Philadelphia: Awesome

Some amazing stories of the exploits of Philadelphia's notorious fans showed up yesterday on Deadspin-- though it sounds like it would have been more appropriate if it had been on pages soaked in urine and stuffed in a Giants fan's mouth.

Shock! EliteXC is Finished

"EliteXC 'Night of Champions,' scheduled for Nov. 8 at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev., has been cancelled as the promotion heads into its final days of business," says Sherdog.com. Parent company Pro Elite "has accrued $55 million deficit during its two years of operation." Frankly, I'm stunned.

New Media vs. Traditional Media Fight Hits Edmonton

Some great commentary in the wake of Oilers blogger DMFB from Covered In Oil being kicked out of the press box last Sunday for doing a live blog (he was there for legitimate post-game work, and was live blogging during the game). For the Battle of Alberta, the story immediately brought to mind a time last year when a fan was forced to remove the words "Trade Lowe" from the back of his jersey, because it was "offensive to management". What the hell is going on out there? (Elliotte Friedman is on it, too-- and, naturally, more bloggers, like MC79Hockey.com, who quotes some laughable, short-sighted interesting comments from the Oilers...)

Sticking With Blog and MSM Stuff...

Andrew Sullivan writes a political blog for the Atlantic, and also in their most recent print issue wrote a fantastic piece, Why I Blog that I pretty much can't recommend enough-- though it's kind of obvious why it appeals to me. And while we're at it, here's a handy list of ten reasons why newspapers are pretty much doomed.

The Joba DUI Story: Awesome

Joba Chamberlain nearly started a brawl in a Nebraska strip club the night of his DUI, according to the New York Daily News. It happened after Chamberlain was heckled, "'If you played for the Red Sox, you wouldn't be sitting here." After things calmed down, Joba and his five friends racked up a $145 tab, and then the Yankees star pitcher was pulled over with alcohol on his breath and an open container in his car. The best, though, is this quote from Kat, a dancer at the club who didn't notice the ruckus: "I don't pay attention to altercations - unless I start them."

Terrell Suggs and White Tigers

Can you think of a better way to spend a weekend? Because I can not.
