Morning Link Dump - Milano, Manny, Robocop, Singletary, DiPietro

Obligatory Sports Babe

OK, so this morning I figured I should find a picture of Joe Blanton's wife-- seeing as ballplayers all have trophy wives, and last night Blanton pitched a gem and was the first pitcher to homer in the World Series since 1974. Unfortunately, the only picture of Blanton with a woman that I could find was this one of him and Nick Swisher with some girls, which isn't exactly what I look for with the Obligatory Sports Babe. So then I thought, OK, she's wearing glasses, maybe I'll just search for pictures of girls wearing glasses. This didn't exactly work out either, because I couldn't help thinking of the old Seinfeld line, "These women would be pretty good looking if they weren't wearing glasses." So... you're going to get Alyssa Milano in a Philles shirt, and you're going to like it.

Nomar Defends Manny

I know the subject is getting pretty tiresome by this point, but there was actually a pretty great article about Manny Ramirez in the Boston Globe this morning. Even more interesting was the praise Manny received from Nomar Garciaparra-- who told his Dodgers teammates not to believe everything they'd heard about Manny, and that he'd be great in the clubhouse-- and Bill Mueller, who revealed that Manny volunteered to sit on the last day of the 2003 season so that Mueller could win the AL batting title.

Does it Get Any Better Than Robocop on a Unicorn?

It's a question humanity has asked itself for eons-- and now, you can judge for yourself.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver Wrong? In What Universe Do You Live, Sir?

Phil Mushnick of the New York Daily News outstandingly rips apart Joe Buck and Tim McCarver for basically calling umpire Kerwin Danley an idiot after they assumed Rocco Baldelli had "struck out" in the second inning of Game Two, and then were awestruck that he was allowed to take first base. "Clearly called him out and he clearly went around," said McCarver during a replay. Uh... no.

How Hurt Is Rick DiPietro?

Great screed from Newsday about the Islanders' goalie's removal from a game because of an "injury" on Saturday-- not because he made a brutal play just before it happened.

Mike Singletary is the Awesome

The Sporting News Talks To Rob McElhenny

Who, you ask? It's Mac! Uh... from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? You know... the best show on TV that isn't South Park (or on The Score, obviously)? Pretty good interview-- and topical, too, since he's a Philly sports fan. Unfortunately, the clips in the interview aren't available to view in Canada, so here's a gem to give you a taste, if you're not familiar with the show...

Update: Hmmmm. Maybe a link to the article would be beneficial here.
