In case you missed it, Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin weren't quite as fond of each other during Sunday's Pens-Caps game as they are in the picture above. Here's the key piece of video evidence:
But it didn't quite end there, as both players were more than willing to talk about the incident after the game-- and it's in those comments that you truly get the sense that, y'know, Crosby is a bit of a whiner while Ovechkin tends to be a little more fucking awesome.
After the game Crosby told reporters, "I was skating to the bench and he pushed me from behind so I gave him a shot back. That's hockey and he likes to run around these days. That was it."
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has even more from Crosby:
"He taunts and does those things. I don't think that's the way to play. I'm all for playing hard. I think he's a great player. He plays hard. There's no doubt he's a tough guy to play against. But he doesn't need to take runs.
"He went after [teammate Evgeni Malkin's] head probably three shifts before he went after me. He's hitting to hurt."
Meanwhile, Ovechkin was talking to the Washington Post-- via Sport-Express reporter Slava Malmud:
"What can I say about Crosby?" he said. "He is a good player, but he talks too much. I play hard and if he wants to hit me, he can hit me, not talk to you guys about who plays cheap and who plays dirty. That's my game... If he doesn't like it, it's his problem."
Later on, when I got my chance to speak to Ovie in Russian, he seemed to be jokingly frustrated about the whole "cheap shot" issue.
"What, I can't play hard against him? What is he going to do, cry?"
To steal the first comment from the WaPo article... Bwahahahahahahaha!
