Obligatory Sports Babe

Today we’ll go with Yesica Toscanini, who Wag Rankings tells us “is Juan Roman Riquelme’s girlfriend — a revelation that sent the Argentinian tabloids intoa frenzy in February of 2008.” That frenzy, FYI, was because Riquelme has a wife and three kids, but…  let’s be serious. What’s that to us?

Hunter

“The best idea I ever had, that never got acted on, was to have Hunter Thompson cover the O.J. Simpson trial," recalled [Phil] Bronstein, executive editor of the San Francisco Examiner at the time. "We had an eight-hour negotiating session. Hunter wanted satellite dishes, an unlimited expense account and a suite or two at the Chateau Marmont. We were a dying afternoon paper with no budget." Shaq Vs. Embarrassment

“Shaquille O’Neal is a man of his word. On last nights episode of his new ABC show ‘Shaq Vs.’ he challenged the best ever female beach volleyball team, Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh, to a match against him and any player of his choosing,” writes the Hoop Doctors. “Shaq ultimately lost the match, and being a man of his word, we now have this disturbing video to share with you,” they say. And it is disturbing, because he bet he’d walk a beach in a pink Speedo if he lost.

Milan Lucic

“Lucic played his way onto the Junior A team then onto the WHL's Vancouver Giants. After one season, he was drafted by the Bruins and then things really starting rolling - he led his team in scoring, he led the Giants to a home-ice Memorial Cup championship and was named tournament most valuable player. He also captained Canada's junior team in its Super Series demolishing of Russia in 2007,” writes Allan Maki of the Globe and Mail. “Then Lucic went to the Bruins' training camp and lo and behold if he didn't make the team. Turned out his second NHL season would be even better - 17 goals, 25 assists, 136 penalty minutes followed by nine points in 10 playoff games. In quick fashion, Lucic had gone from unwanted to unstoppable to widely respected.”

Mir and Lesnar

“Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir has, for the most part, kept quiet following his loss to current champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 100, but Mir recently spoke with Xtreme Radio about the loss to Brock, his potential fight with Cheick Kongo, and how he thinks Fedor would fare against Lesnar,” says Fight Line. “When asked what it was like to have Lesnar taunt him immediately after the fight, Mir admitted, ‘It’s very motivating.’ ”

Disclaimer Time

I haven’t actually watched this. I wanted to get that out there in the open, because I have no idea what we have here, except that Sports Crackle Pop posted a (presumably) SFW trailer of an adult film starring Ron Jeremy, and featuring a scene—in the trailer—that parodies Jessica Simpson and Cowboys QB Tony Romo. So… there you have it. Again, it’s only presumably SFW, and I haven’t actually watched it, so it might be terrible—even in an ironic way. But probably awesome.
