Mets third baseman David Wright has been out of the lineup the past couple of weeks, after getting clocked in the head by a Matt Cain fastball. Apparently he’s got the all clear to play now, as long as he wears an extra-protective helmet to make sure, on the off chance he gets hit again, he doesn’t do any more damage to his head, and… holy shit!!! If I were him, I might just take my chances…
I’m pretty sure that, last week, I scoffed at the idea that Adrian Beltre still isn’t sure whether he’ll wear a cup, despite having one of his testicles nearly destroyed by a line drive. But… well… if wearing a cup is to Adrian Beltre’s comfort what wearing that helmet is to David Wright’s not looking like a complete tool, Beltre might be on to something.
