Morning Link Dump – Aleka, Sykora, Jordan, Del Potro

aleka Obligatory Sports Babe

This morning we’ll go with Peja Stojakovic’s hot wife, Aleka Kamila, for reasons that I think ought to be pretty obvious by this point.

Ugh. You knew that Buffalo was going to lose to New England last night, but like that? That’s just cruel.

Sykora

“The news that Petr Sykora will attend the Minnesota Wild camp on a tryout basis is symbolic of the dilemma facing all the veteran NHL players that didn’t get a contract offer this summer, and opted not to play overseas in Russia,” writes Eric Duhatschek in the Globe and Mail. “Do they swallow their pride and - with no guarantees - try to earn a roster spot for the first time in forever? Or do they sit at home and await a firm deal and bide their time that way?”

Bryon Russell Didn’t Care For Jordan’s HOF Speech

“I’ll play his a— right now,” an angry Bryon Russell told Yahoo! Sports, upset about Michael Jordan’s Hall of Fame Induction speech. “This is a call-out for him to come play me. He can come out here in his private jet and come play. He’s got millions of dollars. He can pay for the jet. He can meet me at the Recreation Center in Calabasas. We can have Mark Jackson do the commentating. We can have Mitch Richmond do the officiating. We can put it on TV and see if Michael’s still got it.”

Quickly

World Press Photo has a pretty stunning collection of photos of boxers’ faces, standing in the same position, against the same background, before and after fights.

I’m not sure why I don’t shamelessly do this every week, but you can check out the Score’s MLB page for the latest Drunk Jays Fans podcast.

Heard of Garfield Minus Garfield? Of course you have. But how about Garfield As Garfield—featuring 20th US President James A. Garfield? Because it’s a little fantastic.

Maxim has listed their choices for the ten biggest losers in Major League Baseball. Yes, Vernon Wells made the list.

Del Potro

After spending the first set looking like he was going to be dispatched quickly by Roger Federer in the US Open final, Juan Martin Del Potro—the 20 year old Argentine—turned it around to stun the best player in the game in what turned into a fantastic—if uncharacteristically sloppy on Federer’s part—five set match. Here’s the winner…
