Pete Rose Wants To Get His Girlfriend In Playboy

Gambling legend Pete Rose went on KGOW in Houston, according to Sports Radio Interviews, and he had some… uh… curious things to say.

On dating a girl in her twenties, seen above, the 68-year-old said that “You got to stay young, keep yourself young. And [dating younger women is] all part of it.” He added, “My girl has finally decided to try to shoot for Playboy, and they were kind enough to give her an opportunity to come to Houston next week for an interview, and we’re excited about that. She’s beautiful, she’s young, educated - there’s a lot of qualities.”

Rose and his ladyfriend have an advantage according to Bitten and Bound—which is also where the photo comes from—in that the photographer is a former model for the magazine, and an ex-girlfriend of his.

But, of course, we always knew that ol’ Charlie Hustle was a ladies man—as evidenced by the 70’s-era Aqua Velva commercial below.

He had some other interesting things to say in the interview, too. The whole thing is worth a read (or a listen) but here are some other highlights:

On his ban from baseball:

“If I’d had been a drug guy, or an alcoholic, or I’d had been a spousal beater, I probably would have been reinstated 18, 19 years ago. But I just picked the wrong vice and that was gambling, and that’s because of 1919 and The Black Sox Scandal.”

On being pranked by Sacha Baron Cohen in an outtake from Bruno:

“If you watch that, you can tell that I’m irritated. Because this guy - Bruno I think his name was - and he was treating these guys worse than they treated the African-Americans on the plantations.”

Uh… I have no idea why in the world he’d go there, but I guess that’s why he’s Pete Rose—a man—and I’m not…
