
I’m going to answer the question posed in the title of this post before I explain what the hell is going on: No. No, they do not.
But that’s not going to stop the cutting-edge new owners of what was once CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada theme, because according to Exclaim, those owners (some other sports network) are getting Neil effing Peart—drummer and lyricist for Rush—to redo the number. Ugh.
And if I know anything about Neil Peart, he’ll be sure to bring along the most unnecessarily ridiculously large drum kit you can imagine—because, you know, it’s not just a gigantic ego wank. Nooooooo… he just cares so much about the sound.
Other who’ve record versions of one of the most iconic Canadian pieces of music in existence, and which similarly make me puke in my mouth, are the Barenaked Ladies and Simple Plan.
