  • Jeter Worst Fielder, SI Best At Baiting Yankee Fans

It was reported in the New York Post today that a panel of MLB statisticians, among them John Dewan and Bill James, have voted on the 2008 edition of the Fielding Bible Awards , and when the votes were tallied, they had ranked Yankee legend Derek Jeter "22nd among all major-league shortstops, with one calling Jeter 'the least effective defensive player in the major leagues, at any position.' " This, of course, is old news. Derek Jeter unquestionably sucks (defensively). No, he doesn't...

Obligatory Sports Babe As far as I'm concerned, the Rays can go to the World Series every day, if it means I get to search for images of Jenn Sterger. Hey, here's another . Just When I Was Beginning to Enjoy Hating Red Sox Fans... ... they all went and started being humble and "the better team won" and stuff. At least among bloggers, it seems. WTF? Where's the outrage, Red Sox Nation? Where's that insufferable sense of entitlement? Surviving Grady at least started to get...

Obligatory Sports Babe OK, OK, so the Red Sox were pretty amazing last night. I've made my feelings about them and their insufferable fans pretty well known, I think-- and if not, try this on: I absolutely cannot stand the Red Sox or their insufferable fans-- but today I've genuinely got to hand it to them. So, here you go, Sox fans... you earned it. Why Can't Us? It's the catchphrase that will be sweeping the nation for about four days next week, before the Phillies are obliterated...

  • Note to Boston: Do Not Poke The Bear

If you know what's good for you, this, Boston, is unacceptable. Sure, on Tuesday Tim Wakefield was about as effective as the McCain campaign over the last six weeks ( topical zinger!!! ), but you've got to stick around at the ballpark longer!!! You've really got to sell it. You're not fairweather fans. You're Red Sox Nation. You're a millions-strong collection of steaming peckers who have been openly in-fucking-sufferable since at least 2004. Just keep on smiling and cheering...

  • Why Do You Want Me To Hate Jason Bay, Red Sox?

As far as insufferable Red Sox stuff goes, I guess this is pretty tame... but I still can't stand it. Especially because I've yet to come to grips with the fact that Jason Bay is now such a key member of the one team I absolutely can't stand. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to put aside most of my scorn by the time the World Baseball Classic rolls around next spring, but this won't make it any easier... this won't make it any easier. . .
