A few Team Canada notes before tonight's game:
The John Tavares trade rumours are swirling, which you'd hope aren't a distraction for Canada's no. 1 sniper. One outlet is saying a deal is in place for Oshawa to trade Tavares to the London Knights. Another says there's no deal yet and the Windsor Spitfires could be as much in the mix as the Knights are. The Ontario Hockey League's trade deadline is Friday. By rule, no trade cannot be officially announced until after the World Juniors are over.
Steve Yzerman, Team Canada executive director for the 2010 Olympics, dropped by this afternoon to help inspire the Canadian players reports Tony Ambrogio. Do they need extra motivation? I wouldn't think so but getting a pre-game pep talk from Stevie Y aint a bad way to start your day.
Zach Boychuk (ankle) did not skate again this morning. He missed practice Sunday for what Pat Quinn called a precautionary measure. The head coach insists Boychuk is fine and will play.
Quinn told the media today that "the team that makes the fewest errors will win."
