Significant Offer for Tomas Kaberle?

So apparently, the significant offer the Toronto Maple Leafs received for Tomas Kaberle was Phil Kessel. In addition, the Leafs would give up the 7th overall pick in tonight's draft.

I'm sorry, but giving up Kaberle and the 7th overall pick would be a terrible deal. The 7th pick alone would arguably, be a pretty reasonable deal for Kessel. Or, Kaberle for Kessel straight up would be okay as well.

Don't do it Burke. I hope you were just pretending to be seriously considering the offer (if in fact this is the offer), in order to get better offers from around the league.

It's too bad that all the reported offers the Leafs have received have been brutal. Ryan Clowe for the 7th pick? No way. I hope the other GMs are just waiting until crunch time to reveal their 'best offers.'

I can't wait to see what goes down tonight. Cross your fingers and hope that Brian Burke pulls off something big.

I can't see that being it. Besides the fact that it's completely unbalanced, Boston is trying to move Kessel because he wants a raise to $4-5mil.. ie Kaberle's value, and they can't fit it under the cap.

Kessel could be part of a deal, but they'd need to shed more salary as well.

Not a bad deal - certainly worth exploring  further . Pretty close to even to be honest from a Westener , all things considered .TK421 - Seems to me Boston may want to  move Kessel , But Burke just as motivated to move Kaberle - so i'd say both sides even /balanced on that account .

anyone in their right mind wouldnt trade for kaberle because he can only do one thing pass doesnt shoot enough. on defense he totally sucks just like the team and his gm

Excuse me, Kaberle has been the only All-Star on the Maple Leafs since Sundin in '06! Give the Leafs a couple of years and you be eating your words 'big guy'. Brian Burke is doing the best he can to get offers and make the team better and he's been doing well ever since he got here. The Maple Leafs have plenty of prospects who are going to be NHL stars in the near future. Such as Luke Schenn. I predict in about three years, the Leafs will be in the running for their 14th Stanley Cup, and you better believe it.

Im not sold on the idea of moving Kaberle, he is the only d-man left who can move the puck,and to win you need someone who can do that. Otherwise its just chipping it up the boards and hoping for the best.
