• Fish busts slump; Sens dump Caps in OT

The six million dollar man finally broke his slump and figured in on both Ottawa goals to help the Senators dump Ovechkin & Company in OT. Fisher started the scoring for Ottawa when he hit Heatley coming out of the box for a breakaway goal. But Fleischmann evened things up just over 2 minutes later with a nifty backhand when Chris Neil failed to clear the zone and Washington "capitalized" on the chance (that's my best impression of Ron MacLean). Neil had another brain fart when...
  • The Mair Affair

In case you somehow missed the drama that unfolded after Ottawa's 5-2 victory over the Sabres on Monday, here's the clip: Now the NHL fined him the maximum $2,500 for the incident which only works out to be a measely 3.29% of his salary. All I have to say is that Richardson said it best, "Leave it on the ice". He deserved a game for that... what is this the WWE? The only joke here is Adam Mair. And for him to say that Neil doesn't fight his own battles... he just finished fighting...
  • Sens drop opener in OT

Game 1 is in the books and it's probably one that Spezza would have liked to remember instead of trying to forget it. After scoring a shorthanded marker to give Ottawa a 3-2 lead heading into the third frame, Spezza was well on his way to being named a star of the game. In fact he was announced as the game's second star until his dangle on the offensive blue line led to a turnover and the game winner by Kennedy. After the commercial they came back and said they had made a mistake and that...
  • Sens split games with Habs before trip to Sweden

I can't say much about Friday nights game as I missed the 5-0 loss to the Habs, but I did manage to catch the Saturday night 3-1 victory. The highlights that I did see of the Friday night game showed a Montreal powerplay that still looks deadly. Barring injuries, the Habs should be very strong and near the top of the East. Saturday night the Habs faced pretty much our full squad (minus Fisher and Vermette) and still did fairly well consdering we faced their 3rd and 4th string goalies while the...
